Mohamad Mostafa participated in the regional workshop “The Foundations of Open Science: Concepts, Principles, and Regional Application”, organized by Bibliotheca Alexandrina and ASREN, held on 5–6 November 2025 in Alexandria, Egypt.
In Session 4 – Open Science Enablers, Mohamad delivered a presentation titled “Enabling Open Science Through DataCite: Use Cases from the UAE, Tunisia, and Morocco.” His talk focused on how DataCite’s global infrastructure and persistent identifiers support open research practices and strengthen regional collaboration across the Arab world.
He showcased practical examples of institutions in the UAE, Tunisia, and Morocco leveraging DataCite DOIs and open metadata to enhance research visibility, accessibility, and interoperability. Following his presentation, Mohamad joined a panel discussion with colleagues from ORCID, PLOS, and LA Referencia to explore how shared open infrastructures can collectively advance the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science across the region.
