This study investigated the role of community participation in achieving universal health coverage (UHC) in Clara Town, Montserrado County, Liberia, an urban community located in a slum characterized by overcrowding, poor sanitation, and limited health infrastructure. Despite Liberia's political commitment to universal health coverage, local participation and service delivery remain fragmented and under-resourced. The objectives of this study are (1) to assess the impact of community participation on environmental health and sanitation, (2) to evaluate the contribution of community participation to health and sanitation efforts, and (3) to identify barriers to achieving universal health coverage in the City of Clara.
