This repository contains the code, scripts, and analytical workflows used to assess Water Use Efficiency (WUE) across the arid ecosystems of Egypt's coastal lands. The analysis relies on remote sensing data derived from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) dataset to evaluate spatial and temporal variations in WUE, providing insights into vegetation health, water stress, and ecosystem productivity in arid environments. This workflow uses MODIS data products. Specifically: MOD17A2H for Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), MOD16A2 for Evapotranspiration (ET)). The Data spatial resolution is 500m. Run the main script on Google Earth Engine (GEE) to execute the pipeline. This code is supplementary material for the manuscript:Amira M Hotaiba, Boshra B Salem, Marwa Waseem A Halmy (2026). Assessment of Water Use Efficiency in Arid Ecosystems of the Coastal Land of Egypt Using MODIS dataset. Scientific Reports. "Under Review".
