Atọ́ka Magazine: Nigerian Photoplays

Atọ́ka was a Nigerian photoplay or fotonovella magazine that was published in Lagos by the West African Book Publishers. The Modern Endangered Archives Program has created a digitized collection of the magazine in collaboration with the Archive of Sound and Vision, at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan (Nigeria). The full collection can be consulted here: digital.library.ucla.edu. This dataset contains metadata on all 131 issues of the magazine in this collection. All URLs to the digitized copies of the magazines are included in the data. Names of authors have been standardized to contemporary Yorùbá orthography by expert advisory linguist Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún, who is the director of Yoruba Names Project (yorubaname.com).
