<b>Application of AI-Enable Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Community Security, Monitoring, and Emergency Response in Nigeria</b>

: Nigeria continues to face significant security and emergency-response challenges that require innovative, cost-effective, and technologically advanced solutions. At the same time, advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technologies have created new opportunities for improving situational awareness, surveillance, monitoring, and rapid-response capabilities. This paper examines the application of AI-enabled UAV systems for community security, monitoring, and emergency response in Nigeria, with particular emphasis on the potential of locally designed and manufactured drone platforms. The study explores the integration of AI technologies, including object detection, target recognition, intelligent data processing, and real-time decision support, with a hybrid Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) fixed-wing UAV platform. The proposed system combines the operational flexibility of multirotor aircraft with the endurance and coverage advantages of fixed-wing flight, making it suitable for large-area surveillance, search-and-rescue operations, disaster assessment, infrastructure monitoring, and community-safety applications. The paper further discusses the role of advanced digital manufacturing technologies, including Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), simulation, and Industry 4.0 principles, in supporting the development of indigenous UAV capabilities. Local manufacturing of intelligent drone systems has the potential to strengthen technological capacity, create employment opportunities, encourage innovation, and reduce dependence on imported technologies. The study concludes that AI-enabled UAV systems can serve as valuable tools for enhancing public safety, supporting emergency-response operations, improving operational efficiency, and contributing to national development. Furthermore, investment in research, advanced manufacturing education, and local technology development will be essential for enabling the successful deployment of intelligent UAV solutions that address societal challenges while promoting sustainable industrial growth in Nigeria.
