Power distribution systems in developing economies face persistent reliability challenges due to aging infrastructure, poor maintenance, and limited technical capacity. In Nigeria, these issues contribute to frequent outages and prolonged Mean Time to Restore (MTTR), undermining industrial productivity and public confidence. This study documents field-level fault experiences and resolution strategies from frontline technicians across selected utilities in Nigeria. By analyzing recurring fault types and technician-led interventions, the research proposes a practical framework to reduce MTTR, enhance safety, and guide technical education. Findings reveal that technician-informed responses, though often undocumented, offer valuable insights for improving grid resilience and operational efficiency.
