Abstract
Climate-related disasters, including droughts, floods, and extreme heat, threaten food security and child nutrition in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Using a quasi-experimental design and data from 11 SSA countries, this study assesses whether mothers’ access to free primary education mitigates the impact of climate-related disasters on child wasting. Findings show that children of women with access to free primary education are less susceptible to disaster-related wasting, highlighting the potential of education reforms to enhance climate resilience.
