ABSTRACT
This study is a precursory exploration into some geographical processes involved in the centripetal impact of globalization on architectural practices in Nigeria. Several theories have attempted to explain the spatiality of the impact of globalization as well as the tendency of the impact as centripetal, neutral or centrifugal, but literature is lean on empirically derived explanation for the spatiality of the centripetal impact of globalization in Nigeria. Considering the role of the internet in globalization having been referred to severally in literature as gateway to globalization, while the initial contact between a website and the world has been referred to as a global gateway, this study considered the ownership of a website or any online platform by an architectural firm as a hard evidence of a centripetal tendency of such firm to globalization. Consequently, this study intends to join academic discourse on some geographical processes involved in the centripetal impact of globalization on architectural practices in Nigeria through a quantitative research on architectural firms in Nigeria. The sampling frame for the research consists of all architectural firms registered to practice architecture in Nigeria by Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) while the target population was drawn from the listed research population through simple random sampling.
