The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is changing how we teach and learn by creating more personalized and scalable ways to learn. The integration of AI into under-resourced multilingual contexts is problematic due to the potential for continued digital inequity. By taking a humanistic approach to the analysis of AI adoption in English Language Teaching (ELT), this inquiry focuses on access, inclusion, and cultural relevance of AI in education as reported in the current literature, noting both the opportunities for promoting linguistic diversity and educational equity and the issues that may arise related to the use of AI. The finding is that the implementation of AI will perpetuate existing inequities if it is not done in an ethical and context-appropriate manner. This inquiry advocates for a balanced humanbased approach to promote equitable and meaningful learning experiences for all.
