City-scale flood hazard datasets modelled with FASTFLOOD

This data repository is created by SPACE4ALL research project. It contains the outputs modelled with FastFlood method for six African cities (Nairobi, Kisumu, Accra, Tema, Beira and Chimoio). The results were generated betwen 2024 and 2025 based on different rainfall events. Here you can find six csv files, one for each city, containing the following information:

Each row specifies the cell’s central coordinates (longitude and latitude) along with its bounding box (lon_min, lon_max, lat_min, lat_max). The flood_hazard field reports the modelled hazard category for that location, in terms of flood depth.

The metadata description and the documentation of the FastFlood model settings and input data can be also be found in this repository. Details of the modelling processes can be found here: researchsquare.com (Preprint).

A few observations: 1) TAHMO precipitation data were throughtly analysed, based on data completeness, DFO and media reports to decide upon the flood event to be selected. The data can be shared upon request; 2) For Harare, the global Fastflood option was used, without any local input; 3) the resolution of each dataset is 100x100m to follow the practices and the platform requirement of the Ideamaps Data Ecosystem. All datasets can be visualized in the platform, where local stakeholder have been using to validate the results.
