The study assessed climate change perception and mitigation strategies adapted by millet farmers in Yobe State, Nigeria. Multistage sampling procedure was usedto select 305 millet farmers for the study. Data were collected primarily through the use of structured questionnaire and FGD. Frequency count, percentage, ranking, and Spearman rank order correlation were used to analyzed the data generated. Likert type scale were also used to measure the level of climate changeperception and mitigation strategies among millet farmers. The result on sources of information on climate change revealed that, 29.5% indicated NIMETreport, radio (20%), extension agent (18%), and friends (10.5%) as their major source of information. Drought (x̅= 3.3), desertification (x̅= 3.3), rainfall (x̅=3.2), temperature (x̅= 3.2), drying of water streams and rivers (x̅= 3.2) were identified as key indicators based on the level of perception of the respondents on climatechange. Planting of trees (x̅= 3.5), timely planting (x̅= 3.3), planting early and drought resistant variety (x̅= 3.2), and use of organic manure (x̅= 3.1) were themitigation strategies practiced by millet farmers to address the effect of climate change in the study area. The result of the hypothesis testing shows a veryhighpositive correlation between the variables (rs = 0.982). The calculated t-value was 14.699, which is greater than the table value of 2.306 at P<0.05. The result shows a significant relationship between the variables. The study recommended that extension agents and millet farmers should be engaged in trainingandworkshops on climate smart agricultural practices; government agencies and other stakeholders should provide more funding and intervention to agricultural research and institutions to develop climate-resilient technologies, improved varieties, and sustainable farming practices.
