The need to empower youth with employable skills has been echoed in international policy agendas. Vocational training is perceived as an avenue to improve the overarching unemployment issue in Africa. The efficiency is still questionable given that most graduates from vocational training institution in Africa have remained unemployed. The training offered at vocational institutions seem to be abstract, one-dimensional, and distant from the African contextual realities. This chapter presents empirical facts on how a training strategy (Cognitive flexibility of Instruction) is instrumental at developing problem solving skills, a sense of initiative and youth ability to multitasking. It introduces a context relevant instructional strategy vital in leveraging African youth employability.
