Cold Urticaria: A Personal Case Study of Environmental Cold Sensitivity When the Cold Became the Enemy: A Personal Medical Journey

      Cold urticaria is a physical urticaria characterized by the development of wheals, erythema, and pruritus upon exposure to cold stimuli. This case study documents the personal experience of an undergraduate student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), who experienced symptoms consistent with cold urticaria from childhood through early adulthood.   The report traces the progression of symptoms across different environmental contexts  from childhood aversion to cold water, through increased exposure to cold weather upon transitioning to a high-altitude university environment in Nsukka, Enugu State. The case highlights how geographical elevation, seasonal harmattan conditions, and environmental cold exposure served as progressive triggers.   This report aims to contribute to the limited patient-perspective literature on cold urticaria in sub-Saharan Africa and to raise awareness of the condition among young adults who may misattribute symptoms to other causes.
