The ongoing Bawku conflict— Upper East Region, Ghana—ethnic-chieftaincy conflict has had grossly out-of-proportion effects on women and girls. Using new data, this analysis measures effects: maternal mortality, displacement, education disruption, malnourishment, and psychosocial trauma. A reference is made to scholarly and government sources to argue that gendered effects demand attention not only for local resilience, national economic growth, public health, and social cohesion but also national economic growth, public health, and social cohesion.
