This study reviews contractor performance and its influence on infrastructure delivery timelines in Nigeria. The aim is to examine how contractor-related factors affect project completion and identify strategies to enhance efficiency. The specific objectives are: (i) to identify key factors affecting contractor performance, (ii) to examine the relationship between contractor performance and project delays, and (iii) to assess strategies for improving contractor efficiency and timely project delivery. Using a descriptive research design with a qualitative approach, data were collected through desk research and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal that financial capacity, technical competence, planning inefficiencies, and weak site management are major factors affecting contractor performance, which directly correlates with project delays. The study concludes that improving contractor skills, implementing structured project control systems, and adopting risk management strategies are critical for timely infrastructure delivery. Recommendations include capacity building, financial support mechanisms, and nationwide performance evaluation frameworks.
