Belgian Journal of Entomology 145: 1-48, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.10982041AbstractEight new species of Afrotropical Rutelinae are described: Anomala arkhipovi sp. nov. from Kenya and Tanzania, A. koulango sp. nov. from Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, Popillia perissinottoi sp. nov. from Gabon, Adoretus allardi sp. nov. from the Republic of South Africa, A. scotti sp. nov. and A. kennedyi sp. nov. from Zambia, A. matotokensis sp. nov. from Sierra Leone and A. thomasi sp. nov. from Kenya. They are compared to the closely related species. Male genitalia illustrations, photographs of habitus and distribution maps are provided. Two replacement names and four new synonymies are proposed: Popillia johanni nom. nov. is proposed for P. congoana Machatschke, 1975 is a junior homonym of P. congoana Kolbe, 1894; A. friedrichi nom. nov. is proposed for A. subvittata Ohaus, 1925 which is a junior homonym of A. subvittata Reitter, 1903 and is recorded from Kenya for the first time; Anomala cludtsi Limbourg, 2005 is proposed as a junior synonym of Anomala chanleri Linell, 1895; Adoretus calvusoides Limbourg, 2019 is proposed as a junior synonym of Adoretus divergens Benderitter, 1928; Chaetadoretus juengeri Frey, 1968 is proposed as a junior synonym of Trigonochilus politus Arrow, 1901; Prodoretus snizeki Limbourg, 2016 is proposed as a junior synonym of Prodoretus dilatatus Benderitter, 1928. A ♀ lectotype is designated for Prodoretus dilatatus Benderitter, 1928.
