International events usually attract widespread attention, generating a vast number of messages that provide rich context for research. With this in mind, we decided to retrieve a brand-new dataset of tweets in different languages published around the COP27 event (the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that was held from 6 to 20 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt) to create the appropriate analytical field. The fact that re-sharing information is a common way of information diffusion on Twitter allows us to focus not only on the data shared (tweets) but also on how it is shared (users' ways of publishing tweets).

Data were collected from November 7th to December 28th, 2022, a period that captures both real-time reactions during the official conference (November 6-18, 2022) and subsequent reflections and ongoing discussions. Comprising over two million messages, it aims to help researchers uncover the key patterns, contributor behaviors, and thematic undercurrents that defined the conversation. Understanding these dynamics is critically important, as it enables accurate gauging of public sentiment, identification of dominant narratives, and recognition of key voices shaping the global climate dialogue.

The dataset contains the ids of the original tweets and additional annotations with information about user groups based on account age, emotion, sentiment, communicative objectives, and stance. The dataset contains messages in English and Spanish.
