Abstract Studies in seven districts of northern Ghana showed that Nephopterix sp., physiological disorders and an unidentified borer caused 16%, 2.6% and 0.8% of fruit losses, respectively. Infestation by borers occurred mainly in April to June, while losses due to physiological disorders were highest in March. Copyright © 2004 Whurr Publishers Ltd
