This record contains two versioned computational workpackages supporting the temporal analyses reported in the manuscript, “Historical and contemporary global inequities strongly skew the geographic distribution of human origins research data.”
The record includes:
OpenAlex Sensitivity Analysis Workpackage v1.0 — a sensitivity analysis of temporal publication volume and author-affiliation country-code instances for research focused on Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe. This package includes the frozen OpenAlex CSV exports used in the analysis, analysis code, software requirements, runner scripts, validation materials, file manifests, documentation, and archived analytical outputs.
Temporal Bias Analysis Workpackage v1.1 — the primary Scopus-based analysis of publication records, institutional-affiliation instances, and declared funding-sponsor instances for research focused on Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe. This package includes the analysis code, final author-created affiliation and funding country-coding tables, software requirements, runner scripts, validation materials, file manifests, documentation, and the aggregate outputs used for the manuscript.
Raw Scopus exports and record-level outputs containing Scopus-derived titles, affiliation strings, or funding strings are not included because their redistribution is governed by Scopus/Elsevier licensing terms. The temporal-bias workpackage instead provides SHA-256 hashes of the source exports and instructions enabling authorised Scopus users to regenerate the regional input files using the search queries reported in the manuscript Supplementary Information.
The analyses examine publications and geographic patterns in institutional affiliations and funding across Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe. They do not measure unique authors, author order, research leadership, researcher nationality, heritage, or individual researcher mobility.
Each workpackage is supplied as a separate ZIP archive and contains its own README, methodological and provenance documentation, executable Python pipeline, Windows and macOS/Linux runner scripts, dependency specification, quality-assurance information, checksums, and archived reference outputs. The OpenAlex package is fully self-contained. Re-execution of the primary Scopus analysis from raw records requires authorised access to Scopus.
