Database D4R Burkina Faso

The database (DB) was developed for the master’s thesis ‘Approaching Forest and Landscape Restoration in Burkina Faso with a new Decision Support Tool’. It serves as the knowledge base for the Decision Support Tool (DST) ‘Diversity for Restoration’ and contains information regarding 84 physiological traits and uses for 74 woody species native or naturalised in Burkina Faso. Within the database, these physiological traits and uses are referred to as 'traits'. Within the DST these are systematically assigned to specific restoration objectives and site conditions. Every ‘informed’ species-trait-level combination corresponds to one or more references; for species-trait combinations showing ‘unknown’ as their level no information was available at the time the DB was established (2019–2021). For some traits several levels are possible. The DST is available at diversityforrestoration.org
