Dataset and Code Supporting: Decentralization and Health Equity: Access Disparities Following Ghana's 2018 Regional Reorganization

This deposit contains the underlying data and analysis code supporting a study examining whether Ghana's 2018 administrative regional reorganization, which increased the number of regions from 10 to 16, is associated with differences in health access indicators. The study uses an ecological, cross-sectional design, comparing seven health access indicators, including skilled birth attendance, antenatal care attendance, travel time to the nearest health facility, full childhood immunization, and health facility utilization, across three groups of regions (newly created, legacy-remnant, and untouched) using the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey. Four files are included: (1) a full region level data dictionary giving every indicator value, sample size, and its exact source table in the GDHS 2022 Final Report; (2) the primary analysis code (Stata), using the DerSimonian Laird random effects estimator with a Freeman Tukey double arcsine transformation to pool region level proportions; (3) an independent robustness check re analysis (R, metafor package) confirming the primary results; and (4) the R code used to generate the study's choropleth map figure.These materials are provided to support transparency and reproducibility of the published findings.
