This archive contains the complete data and code underlying "Beyond Parity: Gendered Participation, Institutional Differentiation and Field Segregation in African Higher Education, 1970-2025." The study assembles 1,315 country-year observations from 53 African countries and links tertiary participation to upper-secondary completion, public and private provision, graduation, international mobility, household attendance and graduate field of study. A 144-system global benchmark places the African field results against an international reference distribution. The archive preserves the raw UNESCO Institute for Statistics API responses from the February 2026 data release. This matters for reproducibility: UIS revises published figures and does not version its API, so re-querying the service will not return the values used here. The archived responses are the only reproducible record of the data underlying the analysis. Additional raw sources include World Bank World Development Indicators, Women, Business and the Law, and the Uppsala Conflict Data Program.
Contents: retrieval and analysis scripts (Python and shell); archived raw API responses and downloads; processed analytical panels; all analytical tables reported in the manuscript, including robustness, sensitivity and reviewer- requested diagnostics; the five manuscript figures; and the blinded manuscript.
Reproduction: run scripts/run_all.sh to rebuild all processed data, tables and figures from the archived raw responses. The pipeline does not re-query source APIs. Retrieval scripts are included separately for anyone wishing to pull current data, which will produce different results if providers have revised their series.
