This dataset supports the manuscript entitled "Hydrothermal buffering and root-zone water persistence under Casuarina equisetifolia leaf mulch improve cabbage performance under deficit irrigation in sandy soils." The dataset contains the raw and processed data generated from a field experiment conducted under a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications in the Niayes agroecological zone of Senegal. Treatments combined two mulching conditions (Casuarina equisetifolia leaf mulch and no mulch) with three irrigation levels (30, 40, and 50 L per 10 m² per day). The dataset includes soil physical and chemical properties, bulk density, soil hydraulic parameters, soil temperature, gravimetric and volumetric soil water content, available water capacity (AWC), plant growth measurements (plant height, canopy diameter, and number of leaves), yield components (head weight, equatorial and longitudinal head diameter, and marketable yield), irrigation water productivity, ANOVA outputs, and the data used to generate the figures presented in the manuscript. The data are provided to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and reuse of the research findings. All variables, units, and abbreviations are described in the accompanying README file.
