Despite its potential benefits, forage grass-legume integration is rarely practiced in Ethiopia. This dataset was compiled from a field experiment conducted at Hulbareg district (representing the mid-highlands agroecological zone of Ethiopia) during 2020. The study evaluated the agronomic and economic performance of the native desho grass (Pennisetum pedicellatum), the most commonly cultivated forage grass in the mid-and highland crop-livestock farming systems of southern Ethiopia, grown with forage legumes and in sole cropping. The dataset consists of an excel file in raw format. This dataset can be valuable for researchers, extension officers and other development practitioner seeking to develop site-specific forage development option in Ethiopian mid-and highland areas. However, as the study was based on only a single experiment in one-year, further research is needed before practical application.
