Tourism is recognized as an essential component of Africa's strategy framework for equitable and sustainable growth. Travel and tour agencies offer a variety of services to tourists, allowing tourists to enjoy organized tourism in Ghana. Some of these services include escorting tourists to tourist attractions, selling tickets, booking hotels etc. Unfortunately, not all agencies can be trusted; some agencies simply disappear with their clients' money, provide improper guidelines and information which can endanger the life of tourists in Ghana. Tourists who rely solely on a travel agency to interact with them, wait for business hours, or deal with someone else's schedule. Meeting up with people, whether from agencies or freelancers may also constitute a security risk. In order to solve these problems, the research reviewed existing works relating to tourism and designed and implemented a tour guide mobile application using the waterfall methodology. The smartphone mobile application we developed provide services which include; giving useful information about tourist attractions, directing travelers to tourist attractions, capturing tour memories, and booking tourist attractions. The system we developed has undergone several forms of testing to ensure that it is bug-free and fit for usage. The following recommendations were also made by the team: Future work can be done to build and implement a tourist crisis and disaster management system (TCDM) to aid in the mitigation of tourism hazards as well as post-crisis recovery. The current system is a mobile application for Android. Future developments may include iOS support.
