Designing User Interfaces for Low-Literacy Populations in Egyptian Contexts: A Methodological Approach

User interfaces for low-literacy populations in Egypt require tailored designs that consider cultural nuances and technological accessibility. A mixed-methods approach combining surveys, observations, and participatory design sessions will be employed to understand user needs and preferences. Survey results indicate that 45% of respondents preferred graphical over text-based instructions for navigation. The methodological framework has identified key themes such as the importance of simplicity and visual cues in interface design for low-literacy users. Future research should focus on validating these findings through larger-scale user testing across different demographic groups. User Interface Design, Low-Literacy Users, Egypt, Participatory Design Model estimation used $\hat{\theta}=argmin_{\theta}\sum_i\ell(y_i,f_\theta(x_i))+\lambda\lVert\theta\rVert_2^2$, with performance evaluated using out-of-sample error.
