The current project documents the process of a scoping review aimed at systematically mapping the existing body of literature on the diagnostic performance and misclassification of malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) compared with microscopy among symptomatic patients in Nigeria. This review aims to map and summarise evidence on the diagnostic performance of malaria rapid diagnostic tests compared with microscopy among symptomatic patients in Nigeria, identifying factors contributing to diagnostic misclassification. The review aligns itself with the scoping review extension of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA-ScR). A comprehensive and reproducible search strategy will be implemented across multiple electronic databases and relevant sources of grey literature to ensure broad coverage of available evidence.
