Digital Transformation in Urban Arts and Humanities of Senegal: A Qualitative Study

Urban arts and humanities in Senegal are experiencing significant changes with the integration of digital technologies. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews and ethnographic observations to gather data from key stakeholders in Senegalese cultural institutions and communities. Digital platforms are increasingly used for exhibitions, online performances, digital archives, and community engagement, with a notable increase of 40% in the use of social media by artists compared to traditional methods. The study underscores the necessity of integrating digital literacy into arts education curricula to prepare future artists for an evolving cultural landscape. Policy makers should support the development of digital infrastructure and training programmes for urban arts practitioners in Senegal.
