Extreme droughts pose a significant threat to agriculture and the environment this century. These events negatively affect crop yields, putting livelihoods at risk. Vegetable crops are known for their high sensitivity to extreme events such as drought. Despite many adaptation options available for vegetable crop production systems worldwide, there is a noticeable lack of evidence synthesis on these options, particularly for Africa. This systematic review aims to comprehensively map adaptation responses to drought-related impacts in vegetable crop production systems in Africa. By providing a comprehensive mapping of adaptation responses available for drought mitigation in vegetable crop production systems in Africa, the study will inform the design of national and regional drought management plans to prevent or minimize the impacts of drought in vegetable crop production systems in Africa. It will also provide a framework for understanding current and future adaptation options, offering insights into short-term and medium- to long-term solutions in the context of changing climate.
