E-GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES AND PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY IN SELECTED PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS IN ABUJA NIGERIA.

The study examined e-government initiatives and public service delivery in selected public institutions in Abuja, Nigeria. Specific objectives of the study however are to: examine the effect of online service portals on the efficiency of public service delivery in government institutions in Abuja; determine the influence of electronic record management systems on the efficiency of public service delivery in public institutions in Abuja; and assess the impact of digital communication platforms on citizen accessibility to public services in Abuja. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 339. Because of the manageable size of the population, all of them served as sample size. Tables, Mean Scores and standard deviation were adopted in the analysis of data while Chi-square analysis was used in testing the hypotheses. The findings revealed that online service portals have a significant positive effect on the efficiency of public service delivery in government institutions in Abuja; electronic record management systems have a significant positive influence on the efficiency of public service delivery in public institutions in Abuja; and digital communication platforms have a significant positive impact on citizen accessibility to public services in Abuja.  The study concluded that e-government initiatives significantly improve public service delivery in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. It recommended among others that government institutions in the capital city should expand and strengthen the use of online service portals to improve administrative efficiency and reduce service delivery delays
