International audience In this reading note, we address several aspects of the use of multi-source spatial remote sensing approaches for the protection of archaeological heritage in Sudan, on the Causses (France), and in Madagascar. These aspects include advanced deep learning methods for the automated identification of looting and destruction of archaeological sites; environmental exposures to risks (Nile floods, impacts of global warming, water resource control in Madagascar); anthropogenic pressures and urbanisation; and reconstruction through spatial analysis of territorial structures.
