Effects of Emerging Digital Technologies on Colleges of Education Students' Performance in Sculpture in Kwara State

The study assessed the effects of emerging digital technologies on Colleges of Education students’ performance in sculpture in Kwara State. The study adopted quasi-experimental design, specifically, pre-test, post-test, non-equivalent, non-randomised control group involving 2x2 factorial design. The population of study was all Fine and Applied Arts (FAA) students in Colleges of Education (COE) in Kwara State. The two COE that were running FAA courses were purposively selected for the study. Random sampling technique was used to allocate 12 FAA students in Kwara State COE, Ilorin to experimental group and 11 FAA students in Kwara State COE, Oro, to control group for the sample size for the study. Emerging Digital Technologies Package (EDTP) was developed for the treatment of the experimental group while conventional teaching method was used for the control group. The instrument was validated by three experts. The instruments produced a reliability coefficient of 0.85 and 0.78 respectively using the Crombach Alpha statistic. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation for research questions one and two while t-test statistic was used to test hypotheses one and two. The findings of the study revealed among others that there was significant difference between experimental group and control group mean of FAA students’ performance in sculpture in COE. Based on the finding, it was recommended among others that lecturers in COE should endeavour to adopt and utilise EDT for teaching sculpture in COE.
