Abstract
This paper introduces a holistic solution for addressing the challenges posed by persistent dust storms in regions like Egypt. This solution is derived from technology developed under the CiROCCO project, supported by funding from the European Commission. Central to this solution is a mesh network comprising low-cost sensing nodes, complemented by a high-end air quality sensing node. This innovative setup offers extensive coverage while harnessing the precision of the high-end sensor for calibration purposes. By systematically comparing data collected by the low-cost nodes with measurements from the high-end sensor, any disparities are identified and utilised to calibrate the low-cost sensing nodes, thereby enhancing the overall reliability of the network.
