ENTERPRENEURSHIP AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN AUTOMOBILE TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of entrepreneurship and skill development in automobile technical education in Nigerian university. Three research questions and hypotheses are raised to solve the research problem. Descriptive survey technique method was adopted as the research design. The population of study comprises of the automobile technical education students of Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. One hundred and twenty respondents were randomly selected for the study. The instrument for data collection was carefully structured questionnaire. Findings reveal that technical knowledge and skills development significantly influences automobile technical education in Nigerian university. Inclusion of entrepreneurship and skill development programmes significantly influences curriculum of Technical education programmes Nigerian university and Nigerian university Students self-reliance significantly influences applying scientific knowledge of automobile technical education. The study however recommends that required tools should be adequately provided as a way of guiding the students towards entrepreneurship that will foster skill development in automobile technical programmes.Keywords: Entrepreneurship, Technical Education, Automobile
