The evaluation of hospital performance ensures optimal quality of care, identifies areas for improvement and ensures efficient allocation of resources. It is a major issue in Burkina Faso’s health system, where resources are limited, and population needs for health care are increasing. This paper proposes a combined approach using principal component analysis (PCA) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to assess and compare the performance of hospitals in Burkina Faso. This methodology allows to reduce the dimensionality of hospital data while evaluating their relative efficiencies. Through the case study of regional hospitals from 2016 to 2022, this analysis reveals key performance factors and offers recommendations for improving resource allocation and efficiency of health services in the country.
