27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 3979-3982 Libya has been one of the pioneer countries in employing standalone power generation systems to supply electricity for telecommunication stations. For a very long time, the use of standalone photovoltaic systems has proved to be reliable, inexpensive, and more economic in comparison with the rural stations operated by diesel generators. Thus far, grid connected systems have not been taking their way as part of the Libyan electricity generating systems. In 2009, a grid connected photovoltaic system fabricated from Tandem technology with a peak power of 24 KWp was installed at Tripoli University for the sake of evaluating this type of systems in a harsh climate, and to know the impact of utilizing VLS PV power generation systems when connecting them to the power grid, especially in the southern shore of the Mediterranean. This paper presents the results of performance evaluation of a 24 KWp PV grid connected system of Tandem modules after two years of continuous work under varying climate conditions. The main attention of work is paid to analyzing the data collected by the system’s monitoring devices to have an estimate of how much energy productions and performance ratios the system is capable of reaching.
