Evaporation from Water Surfaces in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas in Algeria

The evaporation from open water remains a difficult process to measure or estimate. The major source of difficulty is the fact that the required meteorological parameters are rarely measured over the water. In this study, we calculate the evaporation rate from the pan using the energy budget method which is widely considered to be the most accurate method of estimating evaporation and A CFD-based methodology to estimate monthly evaporation for the two dams. The evaporation rates calculated with the energy budget and the application of CFD were in good agreement with monthly evaporation measurements in dams located in areas of different climates in Algeria.
