International audience We provide novel evidence from d:a:ri:dZa (Moroccan Arabic, MA) for a subordination analysis of main clauses with compound tenses where the copular verb ku:n ‘be’ co-occurs with a main verb, both of which are fully inflected. Such clauses exhibit three key properties characteristic of subordination: double temporal interpretation, indexical shift, and sequence of tense (SoT).
