Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is advancing rapidly with a powerful potential impact on economies worldwide. In order to craft policies that result in equitable outcomes on the African continent, it is crucial to understand the potential and role of AI on the continent. This research aims to lay the groundwork for the formulation of national and continental policies. Our findings offer insights to guide policymakers in navigating the challenges and opportunities presented by AI adoption. This executive summary provides a taster of soon-to-be-released research that addresses and provides recommendations for policymakers around AI in relation to employment, privacy, competition, trade, taxation, intellectual property, liability, and inequality.
