EXPLORING GREEN LOGISTICS PRACTICES IN RWANDAN HOSPITALS: A STEP TOWARD SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE

This study explores green logistics practices in Rwandan hospitals, focusing on their alignment with sustainable healthcare objectives. Employing a mixed-methods approach, data were gathered through surveys, interviews, and secondary sources from 15 hospitals. Key findings include that 78% of hospitals segregate hazardous waste, while only 30% utilize solar energy, highlighting gaps in renewable energy adoption. Logistic regression analysis identified resource constraints (p < 0.01) and inadequate staff training (p < 0.05) as significant barriers. Positive predictors for green logistics adoption were environmental policies (β = 0.45, p < 0.01) and regular training (β = 0.37, p < 0.05). Recommendations include enhancing resource allocation, adopting renewable technologies, and strengthening staff capacity through training. This research emphasizes the critical need to integrate green practices into healthcare logistics, ensuring alignment with Rwanda’s sustainability goals.
