Exploring the Influence of workplace violence reporting practices on the prevalence and patterns of workplace violence among nurses in Africa: A scoping review

Workplace violence (WPV) in the healthcare system is a universal global concern with nurses been the most affected professionals. In diverse health systems around the world, nurses mostly report instances of verbal, physical, and psychological abuse from patients, family members, or coworkers. This negatively have effect on their psychosocial safety climate (PSC) and also increases the cost of seeking healthcare which mostly leads to stress and burnout. However, a working environment with high psychosocial safety climate promotes the wellbeing of its employees limiting the occurrence of workplace violence or maltreatment (Amoadu et al., 2025; Amoadu et al., 2024; Kibunja et al., 2021). In the modern-day healthcare systems, the well-being and safety of healthcare providers are essential for sustaining a resilient healthcare system.
