FACTORS AFFECTING TIMELY ACCOMPLISHMENT OF POTABLE WATER PROJECT, IN CASE OF SILTIE ZONE, CENTRAL ETHIOPIA

ABSTRACT Projects focused on water are of greater importance than projects related to constructing roads or houses because expanding access to clean water for the populations of developing nations is a key objective of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the current Sustainable Development Goals, capturing the interest of governments and development professionals. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factors affecting the timely accomplishment of the potable water project in the Siltie Zone. The study was used both a descriptive and explanatory research design and survey data collected from a random sample of 142 staffs working potable water project in siltie zone. Tables, charts and percentages were used to present the data after it had been examined using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression models. Multiple linear regression models result indicated that variables, financing related factors, monitoring related factors, contractor capacity related factors and contractor variation related factors significant impact affecting the timely accomplishment of the potable water project. While the rest of variable political related factors no statistically significant variable on affecting the timely accomplishment of the potable water project. The concerned government and project managers should consider all partners who may be affected or require finance, in addition to the project's viability.
