This study investigates the complex factors driving the decline of the Somali language, focusing on the significant impact of globalization on Somali society, particularly in terms of language, culture, and identity. The rise of international languages, the dominance of global media, and the digital divide have all contributed to the marginalization of the Somali language, leading to a decline in its status and use. Additionally, Westernization has eroded traditional Somali cultural practices, while displacement and migration have disrupted the intergenerational transmission of language and culture. The study emphasizes the importance of quality education in preserving the Somali language and highlights the need for a multifaceted approach, including promoting Somali language media, enhancing language education, and addressing the digital divide, to foster sustainable development, preserve Somali cultural heritage, and promote equitable access to resources and opportunities.
