This paper evaluates the outcomes of a foundational learning intervention and mental health outcomes of young learners in Botswana. This is a novel study as there are mutiple evaluations on the foundational learning intervention but a dearth of evidence on the mental health of young people in LMICs. Futhermore there is sufficient evidence showing the links between improving learning outcomes and improving mental health outcomes, however the is a gap in this evidence base for LMICs particularly in the African context.
Thus this study investigates the relationship between a foundational learning intervention "Teaching at the Right Level" and the mental health and learning outcomes of primary school students in Botswana.
