From Learning to Action: Women Leaders Shaping Digital Health Toward 2030

This technical report documents and analyzes the virtual roundtable “From Learning to Action: Women Leaders Shaping Digital Health Toward 2030,” held during Digital Health Week 2025. Bringing together women leaders from Latin America and Africa, the report explores the strategic role of women’s leadership in advancing equitable, ethical, and people-centered digital health transformation. The document synthesizes key insights from the discussions, highlighting persistent gender gaps in governance, data interoperability, artificial intelligence, and decision-making spaces, despite progress in digital health adoption across the region. It emphasizes that digital transformation cannot achieve universal health coverage or sustainable innovation without the active technical, political, and institutional leadership of women. Using a qualitative methodology that includes thematic analysis, triangulation with international frameworks, and internal technical validation, the report presents core findings, contributions from panelists, and actionable recommendations. These are directed at governments, academia, international cooperation, and technical networks. Aligned with the RECAINSA Strategic Framework 2024–2028, the report positions gender equity not as a complementary issue, but as a structural pillar for trustworthy data governance, responsible AI, and resilient health systems. It concludes with a call to collective action, underscoring that the future of digital health toward 2030 must be built with diversity, evidence, and women’s leadership at its core.
