Ghana's Banking Sector Collapse, 2017–2019: Open Dataset of 418 Resolved Institutions

First public release.

Open dataset of 418 institutions resolved in Ghana's 2017–2019 banking sector clean-up — 347 microfinance companies, 23 savings & loans institutions, and other resolved entities—compiled from Bank of Ghana revocation notices and primary sources, with a hand-verified analysis of why the 23 savings & loans companies failed.

Headline findings:

• Related-party lending appears in 17 of the 23 savings & loans failures
• Every institution with a stated insolvency date was held past the 180-day statutory deadline in Act 930

Includes a reproducible Python pipeline, a SQL layer that reproduces every published finding, interactive charts, and six policy recommendations.
