These services align directly with the principles of primary healthcare and are among the most effective tools available for reducing under-five morbidity and mortality. Despite the global progress in child survival, significant disparities persist in low-resource settings, and preventive service utilisation remains suboptimal in many communities across sub-Saharan Africa, including Sudan. Caregiver knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) are principal determinants of whether preventive child health services are sought and used. Studies across sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region consistently demonstrate that maternal education, awareness of clinic functions, and trust in healthcare providers strongly predict immunisation uptake and regular clinic attendance. In Sudan, economic instability, ongoing conflict, and health system disruptions have compounded access barriers, contributing to uneven coverage of essential child health services at the state level.
