# Cost-Benefit Analysis of a Proposed Small-Scale Waste-to-Energy Facility, Greater Accra. ## Overview A cost–benefit analysis of a proposed 900 kW hybrid waste-to-energy facility at Dodowa, Shai-Osudoku District, Greater Accra. The plant combines biogas digestion, pyrolysis and solar PV to treat municipal solid waste and generate electricity. The study is an ex-ante and comparative appraisal covering the institutional, technical, commercial, financial and economic dimensions of the project. ## Method Capital cost of GHS 29.6M was modelled against GHS 6.1M in annual revenue from electricity sales, gate fees, compost and fertiliser over a ten-year horizon to 2035. Cash flows were inflation-adjusted using IMF International Financial Statistics data and discounted at 10%. ## Results | Metric | Value | |---|---| | Net present value | GHS 33.0M | | Benefit–cost ratio | 1.53 | | Discounted payback | 4.3 years | | Avoided landfill and emissions benefits | ~GHS 3.6M per year | ## About Final-year project work (ECON446), Department of Economics, University of Ghana, September 2025. Graded A. Co-authored with Selina Egyinba Mensah and Richard Asare, supervised by Dr. Owusu Adu Sarkodie. The full report is in this repository.
