Consensus or Cheap Talk? The Discursive Politics of South Africa's Just Energy Transition. Replication code and data for Bez, Klug, Raederscheidt & Steckel (2026), published in Environmental Politics. Consensus or Cheap Talk? The Discursive Politics of South Africa's Just Energy Transition Replication code for Bez, Klug, Raederscheidt & Steckel (2026), published in Environmental Politics. The data cannot be published due to LexisNexis property and circulation rights. We analyse nearly 2,300 South African news articles (2008–2023) using text-as-data methods to map public debate around just transitions and examine whether the Just Transition Framework and Just Energy Transition Partnership shifted or reinforced existing actor positions. The r files are for preprocessing, removing duplicates, producing simple descriptives, and look for the optimal k (see also Lexisnexis_MASTER.R), as well as running the topic model. The ipynb files are for preparing and implementing the few shot ML strategy to analyse various stances around the just transition. Also included is an xlsx output of the qualitative codes and coding structure from MAXQDA. doi.org doi.org
