A VS Code-based Python project that uses machine learning to forecast population growth in South Africa. South Africa’s population has grown significantly from 1960 to 2023, reaching approximately 64 million people. This historical growth trend highlights how quickly demand for housing, healthcare, education, and infrastructure has increased over the decades. If these patterns continue, South Africa will face mounting pressure on public services, urban development, and job creation in the years ahead. To turn this historical data into actionable insight, I’ve built a Linear Regression-based Population Prediction Model that analyzes South Africa’s population trends from 1960 to 2023. The model connects to SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and feeds into Power BI, where interactive dashboards visualize the growth patterns clearly. While the current visuals focus on historical data, they provide a solid foundation for: Identifying long-term growth patterns. Understanding how past trends can inform future resource allocation. Supporting government and private sector planning for infrastructure, healthcare, and education. Creating a baseline for predictive modeling and scenario planning. This solution helps decision-makers anticipate challenges and plan proactively for a sustainable future.
